Does a cordless torque wrench need to be calibrated? If so, at what interval?​

Yes, a cordless torque wrench is tested and calibrated in accordance with international standards. As a DIN ISO 9001 certified company, TÜV checks our test bench every year to ensure that it is up to date and that our own calibrations of the test and load cells are complied with. We recommend that our customers have their cordless torque wrenches calibrated once a year.

What is carried out during regular calibration / testing?

As soon as a cordless torque screwdriver arrives at our premises, it is first checked for functionality: We check all gears in clockwise and anti-clockwise rotation. Torque values are then tested randomly. The impressions gained here remain in our heads, as the screwdriver is then opened and dismantled. All components are checked for wear and tear and the gearbox is washed and re-greased. Each screwdriver is only serviced by one employee at a time. The screwdriver is then recalibrated and the certificate renewed.

Why should I switch from an impact wrench to a cordless torque wrench?

Compared to an impact wrench, cordless power screwdrivers have two decisive advantages: They are a tool calibrated in accordance with international standards and are therefore highly precise. This ensures a secure screw connection and protects both the user and the components to be screwed together from damage. In addition, cordless torque wrenches are much more ergonomic: the noise pollution is negligible compared to an impact wrench. What's more, the cordless torque wrench does not vibrate. The mechanical lock protects the user from the torque applied.
